  4. The Guys are back at The Dolly on March the 8th , playing with guests I believe and all for a good cause , I too remember Dick Goodson ,a very good bass player and vocalist , what about Martin Hester (I think thats right) vocalist, other guys that were great players around that time were Brian Padley(unfortunately/deceased) Dave Andrews (guitar) Gordon "Blab" Day ,drummer, Chad Green,Keyboards, Brian Rhodes bass player , all these guys came from around the itney area I think .

  13. Fantastic set at the Red Lion in Eynsham on 22 September 2012. It's lovely to see such quality musicians relaxed and enjoying themselves, and especially for free!?! Hope to see them again soon, next time I will bring EVERYBODY because this is a band that needs to be seen :)

  14. A fantastic set (short and sweet ) from Steamroller at Jagz (Aug 2nd) Ascot. My second gig since I last saw them at The Corndolly in 1976/77. Still playing as well as ever. Brilliant lead guitar from Robert. The jokes havn't improved !! But hey, who cares, they are still the same great band that I remember. Can't wait for the next gig that I can get to as I live near Minehead but well worth it when I can make it. A real Rock 'n' Blues band not to be missed.

  23. Fond memories of Steamroller (and the later Bob Wakeley Band) probably about 1978 as an underage drinker down the Corn Dolly hugging a warm can of Breaker "malt liquor".

Terrific atmosphere, loud, sweaty and stunk of spilt beer. Also remember the Stan Smith Band, Flash Harry and Prism.

    Happy days.

  26. I lived in Oxford in the early 70's and was a regular in the Corn Dolly and used to love to get down there to see Steamroller. Moved back to Yorkshire in mid seventies.
I formed the Classic Rock Society in 1991 and recently handed over the reins to a bunch of younger lads. Still do some interviews and reviews for the guys. Had reason to interview Dicken of Mr Big this week and talked about Oxford and blow me I find out you're still going strong. Great news. Hope I get chance to see you somewhere down there again soon.

  27. Hi Rob,

I used to be the drummer for Prism in the seventies, A few years ago I made a double album of Steamroller made from tapes lent to me by Mark Freeman which I remasterd. Its was recorded I think in 1976 at the Corn Dolly. It sounds good ! I still play and teach guitar/drums. I have a band called Ginhouse and guess what we play a little thing called "Poorboy". anyway it was your fault I started playing lead guitar, I was a bit knocked out by your playing
and so the drums had to take a back seat. Its great to see your back on stage again. I'm still trying to get to The Jack Russell for Jam, if its still on, perhaps we could have a jam for old times sake. Give my regards to Larry

    All the best

  28. Hey Guys!!!

LOVED the set at The Cricketers, handy having you play 50 yards from my house!!!...Rob was explosive as always, and young Aaron was simply AWESOME for his age......CAN'T WAIT to see y'all on a bigger stage with Larry cracking out the big drum kit!!!!

Keep it up, STILL the best live band in Oxford
